This experiment was studied on tapping electricity from tree and soil. The mechanism of tree and soil act as electrochemical cell to change the chemical energy to electrical energy. In order to obtain the highest voltage, few parameters was studied, which included three sample of tree, five type of metal electrode, depth of electrode, distance of electrode, relation between pH of tree and soil, and humidity of soil. In addition, voltage obtained by using same and different metal electrode pair was compared. Three species of tree was banana tree, kedondong tree and kepau tree while five type of metal electrode was copper, iron, zinc, aluminum and lead. However, banana tree and iron electrode was obtained the highest voltage, which was (0.2497 ± 0.0001) V and (0.3608 ± 0.0001) V respectively. Therefore, only banana tree and iron electrode was applied in the following experiment. For depth of electrode, electrode which shoved into xylem part of banana tree trunk obtained the highest voltage, (0.4467 ± 0.0001) V with the depth of soil was 6 cm. Then, voltage for distance 5 cm, 25 cm and 45 cm from soil was shoved into banana tree trunk and obtained (0.3299 ± 0.0001) V, (0.3033 ± 0.0001) V and (0.2899 ± 0.0001) V respectively. The experiment showed that the shortest distance of electrode from soil, the highest voltage obtained. For relation between pH values, the pair of pH 7 soil and pH 6 tree, and the pair of pH 6 soil and pH 6 tree were obtained (0.4622 ± 0.0001) V and (0.4467 ± 0.0001) V respectively. Experiment showed that the larger difference between pH values, the higher voltage obtained. However, this concept could not apply in actual experiment for tree and soil. This is due to the iron electrode which used in the experiment was not inert and caused the voltage obtained was more depend on ion concentration. In the other hand, corrosion of iron electrode under the condition of wet soil obtained the most maximum voltage that is (0.5429 ± 0.0001) V. The voltage value obtained by the electrode paired of zinc and copper was almost two times voltage value by using the electrode paired of iron electrode, which was (1.0952 ± 0.0001) V. The highest current was obtained by electrode paired of zinc and copper, which is (0.259 ± 0.0001) mA at (1.0952 ± 0.0001) V with the electricity power of 0.28 mW.
