Abstract
There is no specific information on students’ perception of engagement with environmental activities in campus, in the Malaysian context. Hence, this study addresses this discrepancy by establishing knowledge of the students’ perception of engagement with environmental activities in campus. The subjects were 374 students in a public university in Sabah, Malaysia. Statistical techniques were used to process the data using descriptive statistics via the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer program version 21. Based on the descriptive statistics, the results revealed that most of the respondents had a positive perception and behaviour towards engagement with environmental activities in campus. Three-quarter of the respondents stated that engaging in environmental activities is beneficial and offered indication that they intend to engage in environmental activities in the next six months. The research makes a significant contribution to a better understanding of the students’ perception of engagement with environmental activities in campus, which is marginally touched on in the literature in the Malaysian context. The dimension developed can also be utilized as an instrument for further investigative research. Direction for future research is also presented.
