The main discussion in this paper is to determine the Indonesia-Malaysia relations during the period before and after 1965 and its impact on bilateral and regional stability in the South East Asian region. The improvement of the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia after 1965 was due to the strong support by the American power which had paved the way to the formation of ASEAN in August 1967.
