Abstract
Cream is a commonly used cosmetic to maintain the smoothness of the skin. Anyhow, the research on cream is rarely done in Malaysia. In this study, C. asiatica. which is believed to be able to fade away the scar, is used as an active reagent. The cream was tested for anti-oxidation propertyusing the Feric Thiocyanate method and antibacterial activityusing the diffusion method to evaluate the effect of C. asiatica. The physical and biological properties of the produced cream at different temperature were tested for its properities. The produced cream was classified as an oil in water cream. The cream with C. asiatica demonstrated an antioxidation value of 3.375 in relative to butylated hydroxytoluene (BH7: a synthetic antioxidant), showing a moderate antioxidatin property if compared to the cream without C. asiatica (relative antioxidation value was 6.549). However, no anti-bacteria activity was shown by the cream. The produced cream had high taut ability value which was 1873 cP at the 50rpm. Besides, the cream was a weaken acid with pH6.70 and the pH was not changed when temperature was varied. Thus C. asiatica is suitable to be used as active reagent in cream. But there should be a follow-up test for its effect to the skin to he carried out.
