Abstract
This article reviews the contribution of small-scale food industries in the economic development of Sabah. Small-scale food industries in Sabah face significant challenges that compromise their ability to function and to contribute optimally to the economy. It is very important to evaluate factors that influence the development of small-scale food industries where it will enable Sabah to improve its future economic development as well as to minimize the economic imbalance of this multi-racial country. Data for this research were obtained from secondary sources. The total of expenditures in this study based on the total of small-scale food industries in Sabah that have been given by Department of Industrial, Development and Research (DIDR). It is discovered that in 2016, small-scale food industries contribute almost 0.0194 percent to the economic development in Sabah and it was the highest contribution in small-scale food industries if compared with the previous year.
