Abstract

The purpose of the study is to understand the impacts of HRM (i.e. training and development, teamwork, reward and recognition, leadership, organizational communication, employee participation and empowerment) to general workers performance by understanding the perception of general employees. This study was conducted at Small Medium Enterprises manufacturing industry in Lok Kawi, Sabah. Only SMEs who applied for loan at SME Bank and have the permission to operate at the SME Bank factory lot in Lok Kawi were taken as respondents in this research. In order to conduct an exploratory analysis, this study used self­conducted questionnaires survey forms which thoroughly reported, purposely distribute to 124 employees from nine companies. The questionnaire develop by Kanungo (1982) was uses for ascertaining the level of overall job performance. The results seem to indicate that employees not really concern the impact of training and development, teamwork, reward and recognition, empowerment and leadership; though organizational communication and employee participation have significant relationship with job performance.
