Abstract
Information systems play an important supportive role in most sectors of the economy. This study was developed to answer the question related to the effect of human resource management information systems (HRMIS) on user performance in selected organization in public sector. The implementation of HRMIS in public sector has sparked a broad cultural change in which all public servants should be transferred from the working environment of doing things manually to an electronic culture. The main purpose of this study is to examined the effect of HRMIS on user performance in public sector at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This study will also test the moderating effect of demographic factors (age and education level) on the relationship between independent system quality and information quality and user performance. This study proposes a model from Delone & McLean model to evaluate the user performance of HRMIS system in the organization. HRMIS is one of the seven flagships under electronic government (EG) projects which implemented to provide public servants with an integrated system for human resource information management. The system is applied in human resource administration, salary administration, leave and absence recording, skill inventory, performance appraisal, training and development, HR planning, recruitment and career planning. It helps the organizations and employee itself in managing all HR information. The unit of analysis in this study would be the employee who are working in the public sector who are using the system in their daily work. This study is using convenience sampling as a sampling technique which consist of 153 respondents. The future results of the research will provide useful insights in the EHRM area, particularly to the HRMIS implementation in Kota Kinabalu.
