Abstract

Capability of dried water lily leaves was being evaluated to adsorb Pb (II) ion from aqueous solution. Batch experiment was carried out to determine the effect of pH and contact time on adsorption of Pb (II) ions by dried water lily leaves. Adsorption of Pb(II) ions will increases with increasing the pH and contact time. This indicate that adsorption of Pb (II) ions by dried water lily leaves depends on the pH and contact time. The equilibrium data fit well with the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity, Qm was found to be 76.92 mg/g. In addition, the experimental data best fit to the pseudo second order kinetic model that indicate the rate determining step in adsorption of Pb (II) ions is chemisorptions.
