Abstract
This paper provides the first and the preliminary overview of the land snails for the inferior of Sarawak, with special reference to Eastern Lanjak Entimau. Forty three species of land snails were found, of which several where found alive for the first time and are probably new to science. Although the samplings wre done in a relatively small disturbed area in a homogenous lowland habitat (i.e., eastern Lanjak Entimau), the 43 species can be considered reasonably high in diversity. It is higly possible that Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary (LEWS) can support a much larger number of species due to its diverse habitats from lowland to highland forest. In addition, 'montane' genera found in Sabah (e.g., Rhinocochlis and Microparmarion) also occur in Eastern Lanjak Entimau.
