Abstract
This study on Nepenthes rajah is done mainly to fulfill three main objectives; to identify the variety of commercial products that are based on Nepenthes rajah, to state the relationship between the conservation of Nepenthes rajah and commercial products that are based on it, and finally to evaluate Nepenthes rajah's iconic level. The methods used in this study are interviews with the help of questionnaire forms and random direct observation. This study was held at Kinabalu Park, Kundasang as for it is one of the major habitats of this flora. The workers of this park are respondents to this study because of their close relationship with tourists and this particular flora. The results obtained found out some of N. rajah products that could be seen in the park such as keychains, bookmarks, signboards and names used for labeling small shelters etc. The variation of commercial products based on N. rajah are also very few in comparison to Rafflesia which is about 20010 of commercial products for sale and 38% of products not for sale. Comparing N. rajah and RajJ1esia, it is fair enough to say that products made has a very close relationship with its conservation state. It is also proved that the iconic level of N. rajah is still at a very low level of 16% compared to Rafflesia. This study uses Rafflesia as a reference because of its high iconic level. Variation of commercial products based on it is also high corresponding to its conservation state. As a whole, 92.31 % of the respondent agrees that commercial products can really help the conservation of a certain species.
