Abstract
Nowadays, computer graphics are one of the advanced technologies for human being. It can perform the natural phenomena simulation in real time, such as valcano sumulation, tsunami simulation and earthquake simulation. In this project, water fountain simulation was built by using particle system. In particle system, the type of particle used is the dynamic type with the projectile motion equation. This is because the characteristic of water particle spout from the water fountain always changes. In this project, the prototype of water fountain simulation was built. Some experiments were conducted in this project to test the frame per second and the physical memory on computer. The conducted experiments showed that the system was efficient when 50 numbers of particles was compiling, the frame per second was up to 80 to 90 and the uses of physical memory was 37, 616KB. For the experiment between frame per second and the amount of particle was 50 particles, the frame per second had reached 35 to 40. For the experiment between frame per second and lighting system, in which the amount of particle was 50 particles, the frame per second had reached 46 to 51. For the experiment between frame per second and alpha blending system, where the amount of particle was 50 particles, the frame per second had reached 25 to 50. In conclusion, the performance of this water fountain simulation program is efficient and suitable for real-time application.
