Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influencing students in diploma in accountancy to choose management accounting as their future career in the area of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Three factors as purposed in Theory of Social Cognitive Career Choice including self-efficacy, outcome expectation and external influencer were investigated. Data from 132 respondents were used for the purpose of statistical analysis. The result of hypothesis testing shows that selfefficacy, external influencer and outcome expectation has a significant relationship with student's interest in choosing their future career. Managerial implication, limitations of the study as well as recommendations for future research are also included in the study.
