Abstract
This research is an inferential study research which was conducted among the State Assemblymen of Sabah. The objective of this research is to examine whether there is relationship between emotional intelligence (EQ) and influence styles among the State Assemblymen of Sabah. For the purpose of this research questionnaires were used as research instrument which were distributed among the 60 State Assemblymen of Sabah. The result of this research revealed that only 4.5 percent of the variances were able to explain that there was relationship between emotional intelligence and influence styles among the State Assemblymen of Sabah. However, it was found out that social skills i.e. one of emotional intelligence (EQ) cluster influenced influence styles. This research is hoped to bring some benefit at least to pave the way for a more comprehensive research to be carried out to unveil the relationship between emotional intelligence (EQ) with various individual personality trait.
