Abstract

This study explores the feasibility of adopting Japan’s automated smart farming technologies within Malaysia’s agricultural sector to enhance productivity while promoting environmental conservation. By integrating quantitative data from national reports and case studies with qualitative analyses of policy frameworks and technological adaptation, the research evaluates how Japan’s IoT-based and AI-driven farming systems can be localized for Malaysia’s climate, economy, and resource conditions. Findings indicate that automation and precision agriculture offer significant potential to reduce labor dependency, optimize water and fertilizer use, and support sustainable rural development. The study ultimately provides insights into policy recommendations and collaborative pathways between Japan and Malaysia to achieve eco-efficient agricultural transformation.
