Abstract

This study explores the empowerment of the Bajau Sama community in Sabah through early childhood education in rural areas, focusing on the integration of cultural relevance and educational reform. By synthesizing both quantitative metrics, such as school enrollment and attendance rates, and qualitative insights from interviews with educators, parents, and community leaders, the research highlights the importance of a culturally sensitive approach to early education. The findings suggest that incorporating indigenous knowledge and practices into the curriculum not only increases educational participation but also strengthens community engagement. This approach is crucial for addressing the unique challenges faced by the Bajau Sama in accessing quality education, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and empowerment for future generations.
