Abstract
This study was designed to arrive at a description of the relationship between culture and influence tactics. Kadazan, Bajau and Melayu Brunei were the ethnic groups that had been used in this study to examine significant difference based on Hofstede's dimensions of culture namely Individualism-Collectivism, MasculinityFeminity, Power Distance and Uncertainty Avoidance. The satisfaction of influence tactics used by their manager among Kadazan, Bajau and Melayu Brunei subordinates was also investigated using four styles of soft influence tactics that are Ingratiation, Rational Persuasion, Inspirational Appeals and Consultation. The results of this study clearly suggest that the relationship between culture and influence tactics do exist. In addition to that, the result of the satisfaction towards different style of influence tactics that had been found will help manager to achieve a greater understanding on influencing subordinates by using a better influence tactics that satisfy different ethnic of subordinates.
