Abstract
The traditional method of teaching and learning activities usually takes place only in the classroom through face to face integration between instructors and learners. However, this learning method is changing where the learning and teaching activities does not take place only in the classroom. In today's education world, online teaching and learning has become a phenomenon especially In higher educations and many believe that e-learning can be the next revolutionary change in education. E-learning refers to a learning method that is supported by Information Communication Technologies (ICT) that makes it possible to deliver education and training to anyone, anytime and anywhere. Thus, Learning Management Systems (LMS) have become a widely used technology and they present as a key instrument in supporting e-learning. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the factors that influence student's intention in using Learning Management System (LMS) in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu. With the modification of the TAM framework by Ali Tarhini, Hone and Xiaohui (2013a), the relationship among perceived factors (Le. perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness), external factors (i.e. social norms, quality of student's life and computer self-efficacy) and behavioral intention to use LMS among students in UMS, Kota Kinabalu were determined. Besides, the present study deployed Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as research foundation model to explain the factors that influence student's intention to use LMS. Data analysis were based on 273 valid questionnaires that were collected. The findings indicates that both dimension variables of perceived factors, namely perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were significantly influence student's intention to use LMS. Meanwhile, two dimension out of three dimensions of external factors, namely social norms and quality of student's life were found significantly influence student’s intention to use LMS. Remaining dimension of external factors namely, computer self-efficacy was the only dimension that was not significant and do not influence student's intention to use LMS. Finally, the result also proved TAM to be a good theoretical tool to understand users' acceptance of e-learning, in this scenario, student's behavioral intention to use LMS in the context of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
