Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to examine the difference of emotional quotient stress and discipline problem, and to ensure the influence of emotional quotient for stress and discipline problem. This study also examine emotional quotient as a moderator between stress and discipline problem. A total of 390 students comprising six school in Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud participated in this study. Emotional Quotient Inventory Youth Version (EQ;i:YV) and Student Stress Scale in Malay version used to measure the variables in this study. The result of this study was found that female students higher than male students in interpersonal and stress management Male students better in positive impression than female. In average, students also had higher level of stress. Regression analysis reported that male students were significant in Emotional Quotient overall and intrapersonal aspect. While, female students were significant in stress management General mood and also adaptation. Discipline problem reported that interpersonal and stress management were significant to female student only. While adaptation were significant as a moderator between stress and discipline problem.
